“Black Women Shaping The World -Across Continents and Across Time”, was born out of analysis of the current global crises faced by Africa and the world. We asked ourselves what role African women, black women had played in crises such as this in history. A little research and analysis provided us with a tremendous amount of information.
Black women from Africa, the Caribbean and the United States of America have not only greatly impacted history; they have done so by reaching across continents. Their perspective has always been from local to global. Many of them have always seen black people, across the world, as one. Most importantly, these women have never conceived themselves as being anywhere but amongst the forerunners, the thinkers and the shapers.
There was never any question of any form of liberation and freedom, any building of new societies and communities without women at the forefront and in the center.
This is not a study or a research paper. It is not a body of scientific work. It is simply a collection of stories that inspired us and enabled us to boldly affirm the absolute necessity for African women, black women from across the globe, to be at the very center of resolving today’s global crises.
